Mushrooms and MDMA
Harm reduction
Regardless of how people might feel about illegal substances in general, or psychedelics in particular, many people are buying magic mushrooms from dispensaries or foraging for them in the wild. Stigma surrounds this: should these substances be illegal or should we decriminalize nature? The emerging clinical research is showing much promise in the use of psychedelics for treatment resistant depression, anxiety and PTSD. Many sufferers who are desperate for psychological healing are making the decision to treat themselves with these substances. While we do not recommend this route, we certainly understand the motivation behind such a decision. It is vitally important, from a harm reduction standpoint, to support the people who use psychedelics. If you are struggling from a particularly challenging experience, we can help.
We know that taking psychedelics in a clinic or as a plant medicine can be therapeutic but can bring many things into focus for you including spiritual matters, past traumas and new insights into your life and relationships with others. These can be often leave you feeling confused or anxious, and unclear as to what they mean for your life. Luckily, integration therapy can help you make sense of them. During the integration process a skilled therapist will help you understand what you experienced, what it means for your life, and help you navigate any painful or traumatic memories that arose. While this area of study is still developing standardized harm reduction methods, we encourage you to please follow the links to learn more about the groundwork being done in developing harm reduction practices in psychedelic integration therapy by other early adopters.Mushrooms and MDMA.
